Abstract

At the Higher Institute of Medical Techniques of Kinshasa (ISTM-Kin), the implementation of the Bachelor-Master-Doctorate system aligns with national educational reforms but also reflects challenges specific to the institution. Despite efforts to align programs with the system's requirements, issues such as insufficient equipment, delays in deliberations, student workload overload, and limited integration of local realities into the curricula hinder its effectiveness. This study aims to understand the experiences and expectations of final-year students regarding the organization and functioning of the LMD system at ISTM-Kin. Student experiences are diverse and complex. The LMD system has elicited various opinions among students concerning Accessibility and Equity; Flexibility and Autonomy; Quality of Teaching; Degree Recognition; and Evaluation System. Future perspectives include teacher training; infrastructure strengthening; awareness-raising; international collaboration; and digitalization. The LMD system represents both an opportunity to modernize education and a challenge to fully harness its benefits. Although it is perceived as significant progress at ISTM/Kinshasa, structural, organizational, and contextual challenges persist. The expectations, perspectives, and proposed additions demonstrate an awareness of the challenges and opportunities associated with the LMD system.
