Vécu quotidien des personnes de troisième âge dans leur environnement familial et communautaire

Abstract

The general objective of this study is to understand the experiences of elderly people in their family and community environment in the MANGENGENGE neighborhood in the municipality of N’sele. We used the phenomenological survey method, supported by the individual face-to-face interview technique, using as a data collection instrument a semi-structured interview guide and a dictaphone to record the interviewees' comments. The results obtained show a single central theme which is "the consideration of persons of third age", this main theme has brought out the following three categories; perception of the elderly, the experience of the elderly and the point of view of the elderly. Seniors perceive their consideration in three ways: contempt, discrimination and rejection. Regarding the lived experience, the elderly live in loneliness and humiliation. As for the point of view, they think that their health care is not of good quality, bad food and unpleasant precarious housing.
