Abstract

Maternal immunization remains a key component of maternal and neonatal health prevention. However, in several rural and peri-urban areas of Kinshasa, vaccination coverage remains low despite the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI). This study aims to identify the factors associated with non-adherence to the vaccination schedule among high-parity pregnant women (≥ 5) in the Maluku 1 Health Zone during 2023–2024. A cross-sectional descriptive study with a mixed-method approach was conducted, combining quantitative data from EPI registers and qualitative interviews with mothers and healthcare providers. Expected determinants include sociocultural beliefs, risk perception, geographic distance, and educational level. Findings will help guide context-specific interventions to improve maternal vaccination coverage and reduce neonatal tetanus risk in this vulnerable population.
