Abstract
This study is part of a quantitative assessment of the impact of social responsibility practices on the well-being of workers and surrounding communities. The research problem is based on the implementation of corporate social responsibility at the Brabanta-Mapangu Plantation, which remains incomplete despite significant social and environmental efforts. Consolidating this approach requires more participatory and transparent governance. The overall objective is to assess the impact of PBM's social, economic, and environmental initiatives on internal and external beneficiaries. The aim is to analyze the effect of these practices on workers' living conditions, community economic development, environmental protection, and the transparency of the company's actions. The study is based on a quantitative approach, using a self-administered questionnaire completed by 380 respondents, including workers, partners, and members of local communities. Statistical analyses identified significant correlations between PBM's actions and the perception of their socio-economic impact. The results indicate that PBM's social and environmental initiatives remain limited, not very inclusive, and sometimes perceived as being exploited. Social responsibility nevertheless appears to be an essential lever for improving employee well-being, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and complying with environmental standards such as ISO standards. Statistical indicators reveal that household size, professional status, and access to training significantly influence perceptions of practices. Statistical analysis reveals household size (p = 0.00), highlighting the importance of fairness and transparency in the distribution of benefits.
